KEVIN R. CARLIN

A construction law attorney with more than 13 years civil litigation experience, Kevin R. Carlin focuses his practice on representing contractors, subcontractors and material suppliers in all aspects of construction disputes. Mr. Carlin is one of the few attorneys who has actually worked in the field on various types of residential, grading and large complex public works projects, accumulating over 10 years of practical, hands-on experience prior to his admission to practice law. This makes him uniquely qualified to work with the industry as he is well-versed with construction processes and pitfalls.
His personal knowledge of the construction industry enables him to effectively counsel clients on legal issues arising from both public and private works of improvement. His specific areas of practice encompass the entire project life cycle, from bid protests and contract negotiations to claims for additional work, project delays/inefficiencies and late payment penalties.
Prior to forming the Carlin Law Group, APC, Mr. Carlin was an attorney with the construction law firm of Perkins & Miltner, LLP, where he worked with a range of clients including Nielsen Dillingham, Inc., Granite Construction Company, Orion Construction Corporation, Audio Associates and Rockwell Electric, Inc. When Perkins & Miltner merged with a 100+ attorney multi-practice law firm, Mr. Carlin seized the opportunity to open his own firm to continue serving construction clients with the personalized attention and industry expertise they had come to depend on at Perkins & Miltner.
Mr. Carlin is an active member of the San Diego chapters of the Associated General Contractors, Engineering General Contractors Association, Associated Builders and Contractors, Surety Association of America and the Construction Financial Management Association. His construction litigation efforts have been noted in detail in Engineering News Record, the San Diego Union-Tribune and the San Diego Daily Transcript.
